Major Russian Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to local officials.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area experienced heavy assaults overnight. A minor lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The assaults come after periods of air raids in the territory, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
